The European Rail Research Network of Excellence

EURNEX - the European Rail Research Network of Excellence - was created in January 2004 and aims to integrate a fragmented research landscape, promote the railways contribution to sustainable development and improve the competitiveness and economic stability of the European rail sector.

EURNEX members include 63 universities and research centres from 18 EU Member States and Russia, as well as key railway associations, such as UIC, UITP, and UNIFE.

This EURNEX web site contains regular updates of progress and information about the objectives of the Network of Excellence, along with a list of participants. EURNEX has also developed a Knowledge Management System which offers, inter alia, comprehensive information about the findings of all important rail-related projects implemented in Europe in recent years, and is planned to be open to the public (on a commercial basis) in 2006.

Details about the members and planned activities of the EURNEX poles of excellence can be found on the Activities page; for more information please refer to our regular newsletter, linked below, or contact Nailia Dindarova <nailia.dindarova@unife.org>.
